Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division AVP of Community Engagement reports to the Division VP, Marketing and Corporate Affairs. The primary role of the Division AVP of Community Engagement is to direct and manage community engagement strategies & initiatives through collaboration with the enterprise community engagement team and facility directors of PR & communications. The Division AVP of Community Engagement will oversee the development and implementation of a Division-wide community engagement plan strategically aligned to the intersection of business strategy, stakeholder engagement, and community needs.

In this capacity, the Division AVP of Community Engagement is integrally involved in strategic planning and alignment of community engagement with key business priorities. This position has been designed to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to direct and align community engagement initiatives that will lead to HCA Healthcare’s positive community reputation & relevance in the Division.

This position requires unique competencies, including systems thinking, orientation to learning, and collaboration. The AVP of Community Engagement must be adept at navigating complex and dynamic systems, connecting and building trust among multiple stakeholders, as well as adapting to dynamic environments.

What you will do in this role:

Strategic Planning

· Leads collaborative development of annual Division Community Engagement Plan, goals and budget that align with strategic intersection of business strategy, stakeholder engagement and community needs.

· Proactively plans and budgets community contributions according to community engagement strategy while maintaining responsiveness to community needs.

· Devises relevant, executable strategies that engage key stakeholders and achieve community engagement goals.

· Leverages interdisciplinary strategies and resources from across the company to gain efficiency. Customizes strategies as needed for each market based on service lines, operational needs, community, and brand.

· Utilizes quantitative and qualitative research to guide strategy, execution, and evaluation.

· Understands internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations that impact the community engagement.

Leadership and Collaboration

· Forms collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders including, but not limited to Community Engagement, Human Resources, Operations, and Service Lines to identify opportunities to align community engagement strategies with key business priorities.

· Maintains excellent relationships through high quality, engaged service to key internal and external stakeholders.

· Develops relationships with community leaders to build Division-wide partnerships.

· In partnership with Human Resources, develops and executes plans and strategies to promote and support colleagues’ community engagement.

· In partnership with other communications professionals, leads development of multimedia campaigns to promote community impact, including community reports, interactive web platforms, as well as print or digital collateral.

· Works collaboratively with facility leaders to develop vehicles for stakeholder engagement, such as hospital boards, advisory councils, and committees. Provides resources to support leaders serving on community boards, proactively places leaders on key community boards, and tracks leadership board service.

· Represents Division at community functions and events, and serves directly in community and civic roles in a leadership capacity.

· Serves as primary liaison to corporate community engagement team to align Division and Enterprise community engagement strategies and leverage best practice resources.

· Supervises Community Engagement Program Manager. Develops, mentors, evaluates, and promotes team members.

· Provides direct reports and team members with clear expectations and timely performance feedback.

Community Engagement Plan Execution

· Oversees implementation of Division community engagement plan, emphasizing inclusion of measurable activities that drive ROI.

· Develops and executes Enterprise and Division-wide partnerships. Establishes and manages sponsorship programs and guidelines.

· Demonstrates a commitment to community impact and works closely with partners to establish outcomes metrics and measures impact.

· Ensures nimble adjustments are made to the activities based on the needs and shifting dynamics and priorities.

· Works with facility community engagement leads to customize annual plans to meet the needs of each market and community. Provides direction and input in implementing community engagement plans in target markets.

· Orchestrates the marketing, communication, and community engagement teams to support the successful execution of all Division community engagement strategies & activities.

· Manages the development, distribution and maintenance of collateral related to Division community engagement.

· Coordinates the preparation of briefing papers, speeches, messages and other materials related to community engagement activities.

· Identifies forums for key leaders, oversees special events featuring key leaders and showcases leadership in strategic arenas.

· Serves as brand steward and maintains brand integrity at all time. Works with internal resources, outside agencies and vendor partners to ensure adherence to establish brand standards across the enterprise.

· Determines appropriate reporting metrics to clearly articulate successes and identify opportunities for change. Utilizes data to inform future plans and mid-year adjustments.

· Understands which metrics are most important to executive leadership. Communicates results and recommendations in a storytelling style that is compelling and memorable to executive audiences.

What qualifications you will need:

● Bachelor’s degree required

● Master’s Degree preferred

● 7+ years of experience in a related position
