Job Summary and Qualifications

The Waste Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, auditing and monitoring a comprehensive medical and hazardous waste program.

What will you do in this role:

  • Will follow all guidelines of standard operating procedures that serve as the foundation for regulatory waste compliance and aid in control of infection risks and other hazards.

  • Responsible to implement the Hazardous Materials and Hazardous and Medical Waste Management plan at designated facility or market, including identifying and addressing potential compliance deficiencies; ensuing permits, licenses, manifest, and safety data sheets are up to date with laws and regulations; and, initiating emergency response to waste-related incidents.

  • Manages compliance with medical and hazardous waste permitting and registration requirements, such as obtaining, renewing, and complying with California Medical Waste Management Act (“CA MWMA”) permits and hazardous waste generator registrations.

  • Exercises discretion and communicates with government agencies regarding medical and hazardous waste management matters, and prepares necessary filings and submittals, such as the Medical Waste Management Plan required under the CA MWMA.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School Diploma Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field Preferred

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in Waste Compliance Coordination. Preferable in a healthcare or hospitality setting. Preferred

  • Medical Waste Management Certification Preferred

  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Certification Preferred

  • DOT Hazardous Materials Training Certification Preferred
