Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director, Physician Services manages the day-to-day activities with regards to all physician relationships, Affiliated Physicians, and “meaningful use” to ensure integration of EMR systems with HCA’s Enterprise Hub for Physician Practices.
Supervisor: Division CIO
Supervises: EMR Analysts, Physician Support Coordinators
Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
Manage relationships with physicians across all physician “touch points”.
Work with physicians to help them understand, interpret, and apply “meaningful use” guidelines for their practices.
Seeks to understand the needs of physicians with respect to implementation of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Accountable for the successful deployment of EMR systems to physicians.
Provides support and consulting for Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems
Identify technologies and installation/support options that will aid physicians in implementing electronic medical records (EMRs) in their medical practices.
Hold education and training sessions with physicians around “meaningful use” and use of EMR systems.
Partner with external vendors of EMR systems to provide solutions and support options to physicians.
Ensures integration of EMR systems with HCA’s Enterprise Hub for Physician Practices.
Build strong relationships between Affiliated Physicians and HCA.
Maintains a leadership role in setting service direction and ensures standards and policies are maintained and compatible with HCA standard information systems architecture, tools, policies and procedures
Leads personnel management activities, including performance management and career development activities
Sponsors efforts to develop core competencies, processes, and disciplines. Supports sharing of best practices.
As a member of the HCA Division IT&S team, is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of the Information Services Strategic Plan
Participates in activities to improve departmental and organizational performance. Develops benchmark measures to evaluate productivity.
Identifies possible training and system enhancements.
Interacts with corporate, division and facility level leadership teams, as needed, in relationship to technical and customer support issues
Utilizes strong communication and management skills to manage technical and business relationships in a matrixed application support environment that includes non-IT&S organizations
Maintains and protects confidentiality with regard to all aspects of patient care
Adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statements
Assists with other duties as assigned HCA-IT&S, Inc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of Service Desk, application support, Intranet development, and customer service principles
Required:
A clear understanding of computer systems and corresponding support requirements
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Strong leadership skills, personal drive and ability to see projects through to execution in a matrixed, corporate environment is required
Advanced reasoning, math, and language skills should be performed at advanced levels Strong analytical skills in budgeting, planning, and policy development and maintenance preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Systems or a related field. An advanced degree in Information Systems, Business, Planning, or related field is a plus
Experience:
Seven or more years in an IT environment with project management experience
Direct supervision or staff development experience
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in multiple technology disciplines
Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal skills
