Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division Denial Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and operational oversight of strategic initiatives related to denial management, root-cause analysis and resolution for final denial write off. The position is responsible for the development of policies and standard processes and ensures that all initiatives meet company and regulatory requirements.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Develops, directs, implements and operates an evidence-based, state of the art denial management program.

  • Implements the division denial management program effectively with strong collaboration with each facility billing staff, case management staff, central UR and Parallon.

  • Manages Division Denial Management operations to ensure processes meet or exceed expectations and ensures daily operations are efficient and effective

  • Provides Division Denial leadership through open collaborative engagement with all partners.

  • Participates in professional leadership growth and development.

  • Recruits, welcomes and encourages new employees to be successful, by creating a friendly and supportive environment that promotes growth and learning in order to retain and help acclimate to the Division.

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Master’s Degree.

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Health Administration.

Required License: If registered nurse, must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.

Preferred Certification: Nationally accepted certification in Case Management, Utilization Review, Coding, or other denial management practices is preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Three years of experience in denial management.

  • Requires professional level of knowledge of utilization review, care management, InterQual and/or medical necessity methods, DRGs, CPT coding required.

  • Must be self-motivated, outcome oriented, and possess the ability to effectively communicate and work well with all levels of the business.

  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and Intranet software, e-mail.

Preferred Experience:

Five years of prior denial management as described above.
