Job Summary and Qualifications

I. Position Summary :

Administers Occupational Therapy treatment plan as directed by the Occupational Therapist, following the evaluation of the patient by the Occupational Therapist. The COTA assists with restoration and maximizing the patient’s level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The COTA participates in performance improvement initiatives, adheres to departmental budgetary guidelines and ensures that patient charges are entered promptly and accurately. Performs other duties as delegated by the staff therapist or Rehabilitation Services Director. Participates in departmental equipment training, hospital and department infection control, fire and safety education and programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

II. Productivity/Fiscal Responsibility:

· Reports to work on time and is ready to start work

· Utilizes appropriate resources to complete assignments within allocated time period

· Performs accurately and in a timely manner in periods of increased work-loads and high stress

· Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete tasks

· Employee adheres to Meal/Break policy and time clock procedures, punching in and out appropriately.

· Adapts to changes in volume/acuity demands

· When work is complete, seeks additional tasks

· Supports responsible staffing decisions (low volume, stand-by, on-call)

· Maintains and organizes supplies appropriately

· Demonstrates efforts to eliminate waste

· Demonstrates ability to set priorities

· Demonstrates problem solving ability using appropriate resources

What qualifications you will need:

I. Minimum Requirements:

Education: Associates Degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited college or university.

Licensure/Certifications: Holds a current certificate as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Current BCLS (CPR) certificate.

Experience: Previous experience in a rehab setting desirable.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

  • Associate Degree
