Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of physicians and general guidance from the Technical Supervisor and HBO Safety Officer, performs diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency functions for pediatric to geriatric aged patients treated in the Hyperbaric Medicine Department.
POPULATION SERVED:
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: acute medical/surgical care of diseases and conditions including but not limited to: cardiovascular (cardiac medical only), pulmonary, neuron, GI, GU, GYN, skeletal/muscular, renal, ortho conditions and diseases including but not limited to: AMI, CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, shock, renal failure, metabolic disorders, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform hyperbaric dives in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to function inside the hyperbaric chamber to assess and monitor patient tolerance to treatment.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to lift objects in excess of 150 lbs (with assistance).
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to assess hyperbaric patients.
Demonstrates familiarity with advanced technical analysis of hyperbaric procedures.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to provide complete documentation for each procedure and maintain necessary records.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to practice proper care, usage and maintenance of the Hyperbaric Center equipment.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers to assure quality patient care.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability adhere to all standards, policy, and laws governing the Las Palmas Medical Center.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- BCLS provider
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)-minimal
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language proficiently
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
EMT-Paramedic Certified, Registered Nurse, Registered Respiratory Therapist, or Advanced Dive Medical Technician with minimal of one year experience in direct clinical settings.
ACLS and/or PALS provider.
One-year experience in direct patient care or equivalent in HBO setting.
One-year experience as EMT, DMT, CRT, or CNA
Associates or Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university
