Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Occupational Health Case Manager/Employee Health and Safety Program Coordinator in the Occupational Health Clinic, and according to standard procedure, performs physical screenings (injury and employment related), maintains employee health and medical records, drug/medical supplies, monitors Quality Improvement, and conducts/monitors immunization programs. Assists in the management of work related injuries/illnesses and exposures to communicable disease. Assists the Employee Health and Safety Program (EHSP) Coordinator, clinic providers, and clinical support team as needed. Assists in the delivery of occupational health clinic services, including treatments, procedures, examinations, and the referral of patients to specialists or ancillary care. Has the opportunity to specialize into a role further supporting employee health of St. David’s Healthcare or into an Occupational Health EHSP coordinator

  1. Management of Occupational Health and Employee Health Information (HIM) Data Entry
  • Assist in daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly clinic reports to help support the EHSP and OHS program.

  • Retrieves and reconciles medical records and loose documentation from ancillary departments, facilities, vendors, etc. and scan into OHS EMR

  • Performs daily routine data entry of clinical services, clinical charges to maintain patient charts.

  • Assist with the release of information (ROI) requests

  • Assist with monitoring phone calls and voicemails for Employee Health, and works to respond timely to Employee Health emails

  • Coordinates with OHS Management and OHS clinic staff to retrieve records from outside medical record entities, such as MEDITECH, eScreen, and Oxford sites.

  • Responsible for maintaining Employee Health patient recall reports and letters.

  • Assists in Employee Health clinical services and records audits to ensure quality and safety of the EHSP and OHS program.

  1. Plans and takes responsibility for employee health programs such as TB Testing, exposure prevention, immunization drives, accident prevention, root cause investigations.
  • Determines availability of vaccine, schedules, and coordinates “immunization / TB clinics” as needed.

  • Provides notice of “immunization clinics” to Health Care System employees and public relations in a timely manner

  • Assists with the management and reporting of employee exposures to communicable disease in cooperation with facilities Infection Control Coordinator. Obtains list of departments at risk and works with Directors to inform and protect exposed employees.

  1. Provides nursing care and assists with the care of Occupational Health Clinic patients
  • Escorts clients to exam/treatment areas and prepares them for physician visit.

  • Takes appropriate medical histories and obtains sufficient information (including appropriate vital signs) regarding patient medical complaints to optimize the practitioner’s time spent with the patient. Documents all clinical information, results, and patient notification in the proper sections of the chart

  • Performs health screenings for all HCA/St. David’s Healthcare facilities and other client companies. Identifies and discusses significant findings regarding medical history and immunization requirements. Refers significant findings to the clinic physician or Coordinator EHSP as appropriate.

  • Assists with exams and treatment procedures as needed. Must be able to perform immunizations and phlebotomy.

  • Notifies clinic director of delays and informs patient of waiting times.

  • Follows established policies and procedures for quality, performance, and documentation when collecting laboratory samples, i.e., urine drug screens.

  1. Assists EHSP Coordinator and other clinic staff members as needed
  • Shares responsibility for “walk-ins” as clinic demands indicate.

  • Monitors quality improvement initiatives and prepares written reports as needed.

  • Takes initiative to act in capacity of EHSP Coordinator in his/her absence.

  1. Performs other duties as needed / requested

1-3 years of experience required

High School Graduate / GED
