Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA), optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the In Patient (IP), Partial Hospital Program (PHP), and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at the Behavioral Health & Wellness Campus. The programs include treatment for adults, senior adults, and adolescents. This includes planning, clinical treatment/therapy, case management, discharge planning, budgeting, quality management, utilization management and team building. Under the direction of the Behavioral Health COO, the Director of Clinical Services will be responsible for staffing, supervision, risk management, quality improvement, direct care and related activities. Essential functions include clinical supervisory duties, fiscal planning and management, team building, personnel management, program development and planning, compliance with internal/external standards, including licensure, accrediting and regulatory agencies. Building and maintaining positive relationships with community mental health organizations is essential. The Director Clinical Services is responsible for milieu management operating under the clinical principals of DBT, CBT, and Trauma Informed Care with outcome based measures, shift coordination, interdepartmental treatment planning, communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Colorado or a licensed Psychologist , or LPC/LMFT in the state of Colorado

  • Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross at the time of hire

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) within 30 days of hire

  • Specialty certification in case management preferred

  • Master’s degree required

  • Five years’ experience in Behavioral Health acute care setting required

  • Broad experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Five years management experience in a Behavioral Health acute care setting and/or residential setting

  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, DSM IV, The Joint Commission, and C.R.S. 27-65 regulatory standards. Must have good awareness of all the legal and ethical issues surrounding the operation of in-patient behavioral healthcare services. Must demonstrate good organizational skills, critical thinking skills, leadership and problem solving skills. Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work with highly diverse population. Must be able to use computer applications such as Word and excel, and understand review and interpretation of data for process improvement strategies.
